Netarts Bay and Tilamook Bay are two of Oregon’s clamming capitals, but clams are found up and down the state, and I’ve tasted them in almost every coastal town in Oregon I’ve been to. Clamming is not only an important commercial activity in this Pacific Northwest state, it’s also a major pastime. Oregon estuaries are rich with a dizzying array of clams, but the most popular for harvesting and eating are little neck, soft shell, butter, cockle, gaper, and razor clams. So, let me introduce you to some of the most famous and best food in Oregon-and maybe give you some more incentive to visit this wonder of the Pacific Northwest.
